what you see, is what you get...

Today, one of the employees in the building where I work found two checks on the sidewalk on Sixth Avenue. The person that the checks were made out to had already signed them. Anyone could have cashed them. A few hours passed and no one came in to ask about lost checks, so i did a google search for the name the check was made out to, found a couple of leads on LinkedIn and Facebook; found the name and telephone number of the company that he worked for, called and asked for him and made contact. I told him who I was and that I had two checks made out to a person with his name. Bingo! On the first attempt, I got the right person. He lives in the neighborhood where they were found and didn’t realize he had dropped them. He noticed they were missing but thought he left them home. He would have been surprised to find they were not there.

He just picked them up. The internet does come in very handy. It helps that his last name was not a very common one and goes to show that even though some worry about telling the world who they are, it can actually be very beneficial! I love it when a plan comes together.
